I took some time to see
more of the world
before my world becomes confined to
the four walls of the treatment room
or the four walls of my bedroom.

I left home frozen over,
completely numb from head to toe,
but it was more than the sunshine
that one day at the zoo
that thawed me out.
It was your light
your warmth
your tenderness
your joy
that made me
explode into wildflowers
and start seeing the beauty in the world again.

While I am returning home
as a newly-grown person,
I have left a trail of petals
in the rivers and canals
to keep you company.
